My path to becoming a therapist was anything but linear. Before becoming a registered psychotherapist, I spent six years overseas as a special education teacher in Hong Kong and Vietnam. While I loved working with kids, I quickly realized after my first year that teaching was not my true calling...but I had no idea what I wanted to do next. Fast forward six years later and I decided to follow my childhood dream of becoming a therapist, proving to myself that my intuition was right all along!
I truly love being a therapist. It’s such a privilege to create a safe space where my clients can feel empowered as they explore themselves and begin to heal. Having been a client in therapy for many years (and still am!), I get how challenging it can be to sit on that couch. That’s why I aim to make therapy a 'comfortably uncomfortable experience'—encouraging growth while always being there to support you.
I hold a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Education from McGill University. As a Registered Psychotherapist, I undergo clinical supervision with a seasoned psychotherapist, ensuring that your care is of the highest quality.
When I’m not in the therapy room, you can find me trying new vegetarian restaurants in Toronto, traveling to exciting places, binging reality tv, and getting lost in a good book. One of my favourite ways to spend my time is with my rescue dog Penny. I love teaching her new tricks and frequenting our favourite ravines and trails in the city.
I specialize in working with adults who feel disconnected from their true selves—this may look like people-pleasing, perfectionism, a nagging inner critic that just won’t quit, or feeling unfulfilled in relationships. My approach is all about digging deeper, moving beyond quick fixes to uncover the roots of your emotions and then guiding you through the discomfort of actually feeling them!
If you find yourself struggling with certain beliefs or patterns in your life, it may be helpful to reflect on your upbringing and how your emotional needs were addressed. Sometimes, we grow up without realizing that our feelings weren’t fully supported, which can lead to feelings of unworthiness or the belief that our needs don’t matter. You might hold back your emotions, thinking they’re not welcomed, and often prioritize others’ feelings over your own. This can make vulnerability feel risky and lead to avoiding conflict to protect your relationships. Carrying the burden of trying to be strong and self-sufficient can be exhausting.
Recognizing these patterns is an important step toward healing, and I’m here to support you on your journey to reconnect with your true self.
Fit is so important in therapy. Let’s connect for 15 minutes, to get a feel for what it would be like to work together. I love meeting new people and would love to hear from you!
